Ideas of what i want my character, Daisy to be like

The sub-genre of my Drama is Coming-Of-Age, I wanted my character to resemble a lost little girl within an eighteen year old. I would like my character to have dark hair, be very harsh featured to represent someone who is very repressed.

I like the idea of having someone very harsh featured and repressed mixed with a very girly and highly pitched voice. I feel this creates a harsh contrast with the audiences expectations, therefore creating something very unexpected and interesting.

I want her to be wearing layers, to represent the repressive life Daisy leads constantly trying to forget about childhood rather than dealing with the issues. I want her hair to be let down, as i feel this is reinstating the idea of her repressing herself, however, i would like her to seem harshly featured, but i do not want heavy make up on my character, i want her to really seem natural and face-to-face with the audience, as i feel not putting on a charade lets her identify with the audience, as they see her for who she really is.
I have searched for some characters from films, which i would feel appropriate for this part within my film:

This is Kristen Stewart in the 2010 film, The Runaways Dir. Floria Sigissmondi.
I feel she would be appropriate as she looks like a very repressive and shy character. I like the choice of colours, being mainly a dark colour pallet with blacks and purples.

In terms of cinematography within this shot, i feel the high angle is strongly appropriate for my character also, as my character is very weak to some extent, as it's obvious she cannot deal with her past.

I like the choice of costume as well with this character, in particular the leather jacket with the studded-dog-collar around her neck, i feel it represents a harsh but shy, still under control character, which is where this would not necessarily fit within my character, as Daisy is most defiantly not in control with her life, she's trying to find that certain control however always miserably fails to gain it.

The only problem with this picture, i feel is the idea she is too harshly featured, I want my audience to be able to identify and connect with my character, therefore i feel it would be wrong to use this specific costume design.

This is the actor Evan Rachel Wood, who plays Tracey Freeland in the 2003 film Thirteen, Dir. Catherine Hardwicke.

The film is a coming of age drama which features Tracey become swayed into the 'wrong crowd' in school, resulting in becoming a drug user, having sexual intercourse and failing in school, all at the age of thirteen.

I really like the look of this character as this is the extreme confrontation which I would have my character do later on in the film, when Daisy realises she cannot run from her past anymore, she has to deal with it and confront her mother of what she made Daisy do to her younger sister. I love the strong contrast within this shot, i feel it represents the contrast and conflict between Tracy and her Mother, Melanie. I feel the hoop earring represent a bold, strong and rebellious character, which Daisy is not at first therefore this is what wouldn't be appropriate for Daisy to wear. I also like, for this character above, the idea of her hair being scraped back, i feel this resembles her repressive emotions, and makes her look a lot more harsh featured, and ready to put all cards on the tables and face this conflict. I don't feel this is the look i am going for specifically with Daisy, as the seen i will be filming is a very down-to-earth, natural and emotional scene, where Daisy only wants to escape from this world. However, for later on in the film this would be an ideal costume for her.

I love the filter they have within this scene, I feel the blue represents the hostile and cold environment Tracey has created for herself, i also seems like she is finally exposed and cannot run anymore therefore this is why i feel this type of filming would be ideal if i were filming a different scene within the story.

This is a screen shot from the Trailer for The Burning Plain, 2008 Dir. Guillermo Arriaga.
This is the character Mariana, played by Jennifer Lawrence.
I really like this shot of the character, as i feel it resembles a vulnerability from the character. I like the way she is not heavily dependant on make-up, she's very natural for the audience to see, and that's what i wish my character is like, very easy on the eye and to reflect a vulnerability but coldly harsh character. I like the way she is also wearing pink, this reflects childhood innocence which i feel i could feature within my film. There are also gates in the back which are out of focus, this reveals the entrapement in which she suffers living within a small, repressed southern state within America, i feel i can also put some imprisonment suggestions through the use of the Mise-En-Scene within my film.
Overall, i feel all of these pictures have represented elements of what i wish my characters to have, these still frames have given me all important points to think about with establishing my character in particular through the use of costume.
