For my A2 Film Studies creative project I will work individually to create a short film of between 3 and 5 minutes. The sequence I will be filming will be including a equilibrium sequence at the beginning of the film as the character emotions and my influence of the film is introduced by music. I then aim to film a monologue, breaking the fourth wall as my character talks to the audience. The title of my production is called: ‘Still Lost.’
My target audience is focused to the mainstream: 17-30 year old, mixed gendered, who don't have children. It's a drama which I would like to appeal to this audience as with it being a drama, the possibilities of including strong, explicit scenes are quite strong. The class which my film is targeting is: A, B and C1 mainly because of the art house quality’s which I hope to include within my film, could possibly only be found interesting by people who are educated within the arts, such as media, film and art as a single subject. I'm inspired by the postmodern directors such as Quentin Tarrantino, who many times within his films breaks the fourth wall, creating self reflexivity hence making the actors acknowledgeable of the audience. Also other films such as ’24 Hour Party People’ 2002, Dir. Michael Winterbottom, the audience are acknowledged and spoken to which are the features which I want to include within my film, the idea of my character using the audience to help herself. I'm going to use the conventions of a Drama, which are quite loose and not as constricting as other genres can be, and my roles within this production will be director, cinematographer, editor and script writer.
